Welcome to

ETIQUETTE

You made it to the show and are going in to your first class. What do you do?

Stand quietly, relaxed, and alert in the line-up at all times, maintaining correct position in the saddle, reassuring yourself that your horse is standing squarely, that he/she is standing motionless on a light rein, and that he is ready to move forward or back at any given time.

Do not park yourself "way off" at one end of the arena so the Judge will have to take a hike to get a second or special look at you. Always consider the Judge! If you think you are tired, imagine how the Judge feels.

It is also sensible to leave the arena at a dignified pace, looking properly pleased and gracefully accepting where ever you placed or didn't place. You came because you enjoyed the shows and you want to achieve honor for your horses and the Arabian breed - now that you have achieved the objective, let's look the part; you help your show and your breed, if you do.

Keep thinking and keep learning. That is the fun of showing, learning to be a better competitor, improving your riding skills and horsemanship, and enjoying the fun of the competition.
